Photo Contest | Spring 2012

So far this year, Tommy and I have been on two short little vacations with at least three more in the works. Trips are so amazing...exploring new places, learning that it's okay to get lost (and ask for directions), eat unique food and making new memories with the people you love the most.

Which leads me into my first photo contest ever! I am giving away a free photo session for anyone...if you've been photographed by me 100x, once at your wedding, or never before...send me a photo that represents your favorite vacation and why to info[at]lt-photos.com. There are no rules...it can be from your childhood, from last summer or from last weekend. It can even be a camera phone pic! Some of my favorites from our latest trip this weekend were pics from my iPhone. It really doesn't matter...the contest is more about the content than anything. I am going to pick a winner on Friday morning, so make sure you check back. Depending on the amount of submissions, I may even recruit my trusted advisors, Keller [age 6 1/2] and Beckett [age 3 1/2], to help out!  Send in your submission before then...can't wait to see your amazing vacation pics!

Choosing an entry was so much harder than I ever imagined. I thought I would put up a contest on the blog and get two or three submissions and give away a session. Boy was I wrong. The entries I got were amazing! I received 28 amazing entries! Out of all 28, there were two that really, really stood out to me. So, since this is my contest, I am giving away two sessions. I know...way to shake things up, huh?

The first winner is Kim Emerson! Here is her story and image...

The attached photo is a picture of a picture from my phone. Not the best quality. The photo is also probably 50 years old. It's not a vacation that I was personally on, nor was I alive when it was taken! I've been on a bunch of amazing vacations. Picking a favorite photo would have been so hard! I looked up from my computer and saw this image hanging on my wall and I knew that I had to enter it.

In the photo are my grandmother and grandfather. They are at their lake house on vacation. So, this is their vacation photo....not mine. But I love it for so many reasons. I love it because it's old. I love it because it's my grandparents. I love it because they look so in love. And they were. My grandfather died when I was very young so I don't have a lot of memories of him. My grandmother died two years ago but she was a very introverted, private person. So, I don't have a lot of memories of her either. She didn't share a lot about her past. So, after she died I kept this photo. To help me create memories of the two of them. I create this story in my head about what they were doing, where they were going, and how they felt at this very moment; the moment captured in this photograph.

So, it's not my vacation. But it sure does bring up some amazing 'memories' for me.

The second winner is Nikki Ankele! Here is her story and image...

Here is a photo from Cameron and I's honeymoon, almost 4 long years ago (our anniversary is tomorrow)! It was the best vacation either of us had ever had, because we were newlyweds! and because we traveled to the beautiful island of Anguilla.

We spent 8 glorious days on the most amazing beach (and toured a hydroponic farm, where we took this quick photo). 

I would really, really, really love to win your contest and get a beautiful session with you because {almost} 4 years after this photo, those two kids now have an amazing kid of their own! And we have no professional photos of him or our little family of 3!

We've gone through a lot of changes in the last few years: moving 3 times, job changes, career changes, soul searching changes, life goal changing... changes, and due to timing and lack of funds, we just have not had a chance to set aside the time or money to capture images of our family together. I would so desperately love some photos of this guy!!!

Thanks so much to everyone who participated! If I could have chosen everyone, I would have! All the entries were great and had such sweet stories of love and family. I will definitely be doing another contest in the future!
